Preventative Healthcare Solutions

When do I contact Quick Health Access?

After visiting your doctor and receiving a referral or requisition for further testing – or if you receive a diagnosis and want a second opinion – you should then contact Quick Health Access. We can help facilitate you through the healthcare system faster with alternative options. If you do not have a family doctor or primary physician, please contact Quick Health Access so we can facilitate options for you.

Can I access virtual physician appointments if I have an urgent medical need for me or my family?

Quick Health Access members have access to a dedicated booking portal to request physician appointments in just a few simple steps. This option should be used when requiring care for more “simple” requests, such as those that you would typically need your general practitioner for (if unavailable) or if you went to a “walk-in” clinic. Members, please visit https://gotodoctor.ca/quickhealthaccess/

Note: For critical, life-threatening, or crisis situations, please call 911 or seek immediate medical care at your local emergency department (Quick Health Access is not an emergency service).

For more multifaceted requests, or those requiring a specialty service, members are asked to reach out to our Medical Director, Paulina Kubik at paulina@quickhealthaccess.ca. After an initial consultation, our Medical Director will present a wide range of options. This service allows the opportunity to access a greater network of specialist services that will cut down on wait times.

How is Quick Health Access connected to specialty clinics?

Over the past decade, we have built a robust database of specialty clinics within the provincial system. Sometimes, these clinics are outside your family doctor’s area network simply because they are located further away. We try to find the closest possible clinics with the shortest wait times, but these wait times can vary drastically. Depending on the urgency, we can offer other clinic options in different cities or regions. We’ve also formed strategic partnerships with preferred clinics, which allow us to quickly identify availabilities for appointments to cut down on wait times.

What is the eSecond Opinion service?

If you are diagnosed with a serious illness, you may want to seek a second opinion. According to our health partners, 1 in 4 second opinions result in a change to the original diagnosis, which can dramatically change the treatment plan. Likewise, 75% of second opinions result in changes to the original treatment plan. Quick Health Access offers professional medical second opinion services remotely (or electronically), saving you time and money associated with travel.

Included in your membership are free eSecond Opinions (two per year; four per lifetime, per person). Please note there is a 60-day waiting period after your membership begins to access this service. See the MEMBERSHIP & SALES FAQs section for more details.

Do I include my doctor when seeking an eSecond Opinion?

Yes, we recommend that all members discuss this process with their physician(s), making them aware that you are a member of a benefit program that allows you special access to some of the top medical facilities in North America. If you want to seek a second opinion, your physician will be asked to send information to our health partners. Once they receive the information required to complete a second opinion, the usual turnaround time is one business week for you and your physician to receive the results. If the association ascertains a different diagnosis, or recommends alternative forms of treatment or medication, the results they provide will be detailed. You and your physician can then discuss your options openly, powered by further comprehensive health information.

Can Quick Health Access facilitate faster wait times for diagnostics such as MRI or CT scans?

If you are a Quick Health Access member and you have a requisition for either an MRI or CT scan, you can contact our Medical Director to explore options for more rapid access to diagnostic testing such as MRIs or CT scans. We can also discuss the option of rapid, corporately paid diagnostics in certain circumstances (if applicable).

What is covered under an Executive Health Exam?

An executive health exam can help you learn about your current state of health, as well as what you can do each day to minimize your future risks. These clinics have experienced staff to help you understand how to properly fuel your body, feel more energized, and move without pain. Our Medical Director with coordinate an appointment on your behalf. Typical appointments at private clinics can take between 3 and 6 hours to complete. Also, you can continue visiting these clinics by coordinating directly with them after your initial assessment.

What is the cost of an Executive Health Exam?

Regular executive health exams cost thousands of dollars for the initial assessment. Quick Health Access has negotiated discounts for our members through various private clinics throughout Canada, which can be up to 20% off a clinic’s standard rate.

What is covered under my Quick Health Access membership?

As a member, you have personal access to our Medical Director (a registered nurse) who provides a personalized consultation to discuss your healthcare needs and/or obstacles. We work with you to identify more healthcare options that can reduce your wait time for services. With over a decade of experience in hospitals and clinics, our Medical Director will act as your healthcare advocate to provide you with professional advice, strategies, and peace of mind.

Visit our Member Services page for more information.

What medical fees or charges are not included under a membership?

At Quick Health Access, we aim to connect you with medical services or clinical visits that are covered by your provincial healthcare plan (i.e. OHIP). However, we can also provide you with accelerated options at a private clinic such as for MRIs or CT scans (if eligible), or perhaps use a US-based clinic/hospital to address a specific issue. In circumstances that require additional costs, it is the responsibility of the member cover their own expenses.

What is the cost of a membership?

Membership rates vary by volume. For example, if you are a business owner looking to purchase Quick Health Access memberships for yourself and our family, your executive team, or even all your employees, there are different pricing options determined by the amount of members you would like in your plan. Please contact our Medical Director or an affiliated Quick Health Access sales consultant to discuss pricing options.

What would it cost to pay for the eSecond Opinion program without being a member?

If you went directly to a third party for a second opinion, the cost would be many thousands of dollars. We have the ability to negotiate a lower cost as part of a pooled partnership program. After a 60-day waiting period, registered Quick Health Access members under age 75 can receive this service for free.

What if I need a second opinion before the 60-day waiting period to access the eSecond Opinion service?

In order for our members to receive the best pooled pricing from our network, their guidelines require an introductory 60-day grace period. However, if a new member has an emergency situation that requires an immediate eSecond Opinion, we can still access one of the top hospitals at a negotiated rate for a new member. Again, after 60 days of membership there is no cost for our members to access the eSecond Opinion program.
